DVD 1 Press Release 2000
"Also this season, Bang & Olufsen will launch DVD 1, a modular DVD solution. This modest stand-alone DVD player is specifically designed to complement the existing Bang & Olufsen video product range. The physical design is based on the successful BeoCord V8000 videotape recorder concept, and operation takes place either directly or via the Bang & Olufsen TV remote control.
Available in the well-known range of attractive pearlescent colours (red, blue, black, green and silver), plus a high-gloss white, DVD1 is fully compatible with both future and present Bang & Olufsen video products. Compatible products include Beovision Avant, the Beovision MX Family, Beovision 1, Beocenter AV5 and Beosystem AV9000.
DVD1 also features authentic reproduction of all DVD-featured surround sound formats. The reproduction of a multi-channel sound experience is however dependent on individual customer setup."
Is it possible to listen to the music on the DVD1 and with the screen of the BeoVision turned off?
Yes! This is how :
First you have to add 'AV' to your Beo4 remote control. Press the 'STAND-BY' and the 'LIST' buttons at the same time, and then press (with the arrow above) until you see 'Add'. Then press 'GO'.
Keep pressing on 'LIST' until you see 'AV' and then press 'GO' again.
The function to control the sound from your DVD1 has now been added to your Beo4 remote control.
So, when you'd like to hear music on your DVD1 press on 'LIST' until 'AV' appears in its window, and then press on 'DVD'.
Your BeoVision will not turn itself on; but you'll be able to control your DVD1 and your active speakers. To turn on your TV in the normal fashion, just press on 'TV'.
The DVD1 housing was also used for the HDR1 Hard Disk Recorder to complete the "family" look, the other product being the V8000.
